So who is Dan O’Neil?
My guess is that you’re here to find out who Dan O’Neil is and what qualifies him to help build confidence. Until early in 2000, I struggled with my confidence and self-esteem in many areas of my life. You can a see a young Dan O’Neil in school in the picture below, hands in pockets and I’ve taken a backward step here too, as if I could somehow hide behind the people either side of me! (It took me a lot of practice and patience to feel comfortable with photographs)
For one reason or another, I didn’t develop my social skills as a child and preferred to have my own company. I felt as though other people judged my every move and I spent most of my time worrying about what other people thought of me. It reached a point where the hopes and dreams I had for my life, seemed to have an impossible obstacle in front of them.
Dan O’Neil had Confidence Problems…
Through my own experiences and learnings, I have developed an inner confidence and I no longer fear these things. I feel free to experience the joys in life, rather than the difficulties. I have invested a great deal of time and money in myself, in order to overcome my insecurities, anxieties and fears and since 2001, I have helped other people along the way too.
My biggest realisation is that I had something which I now call “nice person disease”. It’s certainly not going to kill you, but it has huge implications and impact on your life. Once I realised that I could remain a nice person, but have a much healthier relationship with myself, it was much easier to make the changes and let go of the thoughts and habits that made me so unhappy.
Here’s a photo of Dan O’Neil in 2006, where I attended one of the many Coach Training Programmes which have helped me develop and hone my skills. I highly recommend this course above all the others I have attended – you can see more about it at the Coaching Development website. I also started writing the Cracking Confidence Blog and developed the Cracking Confidence Workshop programmes. Since then, I have helped thousands of people to think differently about themselves and approach their world with renewed confidence. You see, the deepest understanding I can give you is that confidence is always present in you. It’s part of the instinct that helps a baby to crawl and then later to walk. It’s what helps you to make mistakes without fear and doubt – which is what confidence really is.
I consider myself very fortunate to be working with nice people who, for one reason or another, lack the confidence to put a little of themselves out into the world. Some of these people have goals and dreams that seem quite extraordinary to most people and I have the privilege of working one-to-one with them. Others have dreams and goals that only seem extraordinary to them, and these people benefit so much from the techniques and skills I teach in the workshops, that they have no need for further help. I love hearing back from all these people about how they’ve taken what they’ve learned and transformed their lives and circumstances for the better.
I’m really grateful that I suffered with confidence issues for so long, because now I get to appreciate my freedom from them.
