So New Year is here and as we start integrating with our communities again – back to school, work etc. it’s a time to catch up with people about how their Christmas has been. Here’s where it all gets really interesting to me… I can pretty much spot the people who are setting themselves up for a good year and those who are going to have it tough.
The truth is, it’s all in your attitude to life – if you respond to questions about your Christmas break with, “well, we’ve all been ill, it was a nightmare”, “had to deal with the in-laws” or something similar, then expect to have a year that matches! Those people who say, “it’s been great, really nice, thanks” or similar are likely to have a pretty good year. Sure, tough things will happen to most of us, but the things you remember will be the positives.
How come? Well, it’s pretty simple… everyone has hassles and difficulties around the Christmas period. For both types of people above, there was some good stuff and some bad stuff over Christmas. Some people see this more difficult stuff as part of the deal and either make the most of it, or they find some way to enjoy the difficulties that arise. Others make this difficult stuff the be all and end all of the whole experience and are really miserable throughout, completely missing all the fun and joy that is there to be had. Christmas is simply a mini-year – if you do this over a 2 week break, then imagine how that spreads out in a year which will be full of minor and probably major challenges.
So, pick a lane. Are you going to face this year with a “this is great” attitude, even when times are tough? Or will you simply focus on all the negative things that are definitely going to come your way and discount all the good that is there??

People who think negatively end up having a negative life. Even rich people who think they have nothing will really feel like they have nothing, so that becomes their reality.
Thanks for your comment – I’ve known many rich people who think they have nothing who still have the money, but they become trapped by their money, still ploughing on thinking that more money will eventually lead to the happiness they crave…
I somewhat agree with that Ohio. People who really think negative vibes about their lives really lives with it. People who are not strong enough to face the tough reality of life are those who in general, fails. In every challenges, people must always think a wise decision before jumping to a conclusion. It is much better to be feel the pain of reality that regreting.
Your expectations dictate much of how you handle the “tough” reality of life. Simply expecting life to be tough is enough to create a real struggle for yourself. I’m not saying tough things don’t happen, but if you see them as tough, it’s so much harder to overcome them. Thanks for your comments.
I agree with Dan – if you believe something is difficult, it will make it difficult even if it’s not.
I usually don’t think about any project in the morning since it’s not motivating me at all
Thanks Mike.
I wish you both sad and happy people all the best wishes on Christmas eve. Keep your heads up and don’t feel guilty for not having such a great holiday as the others do. Happiness comes once or twice in a man’s life..you just need to have the ability to keep it close to you.
Yours friendly and sincerely

Mmm… I really disagree with you that happiness only comes once or twice in life. Happiness is everyone’s right – it’s a choice! You can either be sad or happy. It’s possible to be happy when things aren’t going so well – it really helps you to deal with them too!
I couldn’t agree more. Positive thoughts make all the difference, and people who have the “why me?” attitude are sadly destined for a life of discontent and failure.
The “why me” people don’t understand this though! It’s only the “how can I” people that know. Thanks Nick
The mantra to Success had always been in you head, it comes out to be in the form of self-belief. If you believe in your goals, effort and dedication. You achieve excellence.
Thanks for your comment
I have heard from many successful people that if you associate yourself with positive people you will yourself be a positive person and you will prosper from that and I don’t mean in just a finacial way but also a healthy way. Try to stay away from the negative thoughts as they will just keep bringing you down further and the further you go the harder it will be to climb out of. Keep your head up and try to think positive, as the old saying goes, there is a silver lining in every dark cloud. Take care!
Thanks for commenting – I agree that if you surround yourself with positive, successful, happy people, then there’s a really good chance that a lot of that will rub off on you!
I’m the reverse athlete in life Dan. Most want to be in the middle lane so that the competition is all around them pushing them, making them perform. But I prefer to be on the outside lane near the crowd where I can drink in the atmosphere and be bouyed and boosted by their encouragement. Sure, I wanna race, Sure, I wanna win, but I’d also rather feel connected and part of the energy, but not in some bubble, zoned out just ot make it to (life’s) finishing line. Hey, I might not be first, but I’ll never be last, and I’ll always had a great experience. I’m an athlete of the Universe.
